Animals and Endangered Species

We have left China, now we are in Russia! Here are my questions for russia.

How did that creature become endangered?
What is Russia doing to help?
Is the problem humans, or predators?

This week we are in China! Here are my questions for when I study the endangered animals.

Why have the animals become endangered in that country?
Is China doing anything to stop them from dying out?

Each week, I do 2 endangered animals in the country we are in. This week's contry is china, so here are the 2 endangered chinese species.
The giant panda originally came from china. This creature used to be a meat-eater, but it now lives up on high mountains to eat bamboo and fruit because of the way humans have destroyed their environment, killing the panda.
Pandas eat nearly all parts of the bamboo, the leaves, the shoots, and the tender inside. But old habits haven't died- pandas like to also search for small animals like bamboo rats or mice.Pandas spend most of there time in the bamboo trees- to eat, play,to sleep in the hot sun- or to avoid predators below, like humans.
How did the panda become endangered?
The panda became endangered by humans tearing down their environment and taking there food supplies- fruit and bamboo. The panda now rests in high mountains where it is safe from most predators.
Is china doing anything to save the panda?
Yes. China is organising reserves to enclose pandas from going extinct and to save their natural habitats. They have made closed off mountaineering areas where pandas live. Chinese now cannot visit certain areas enhabited by pandas or a forest of bamboo ready to hold more of the creature. And zoos are now working on pandas breeding and making sure that the babies survive.China is making a big effort to save the panda, which without our help they could turn extinct.

The golden monkey is named after its reddish-golden hair on its body. It lives in forests like the panda, up very high. Sometimes it reaches altitudes of 1,800 metres high.
The golden monkey feeds on fruit and most of the tree-tender branches, sprouts, and leaves. It's type is dying because of destroyed forests, where the golden monkey lives. Both giant pandas and golden monkeys live up high to be protected by predators, and humans from cutting down their trees.
How did the golden monkey endangered?
The golden monkey became endangered because humans chopped down their habitats, like pandas, and they took shelter on the mountains or in forests up high away from people.Their trees are also their food supply-Fruit, sprouts, leaves, and branches. This is the difference from the panda- they are not meat eaters, and without trees they struggle.
Is china doing anything to help the golden monkey?
The golden monkey is being  protected by chinese government and also held at zoos to breed.China has also started a Yunnan Golden monkey program, a project where they try to save the golden monkey a understand its needs to survive.

Hi! My name is Amelia and for our around the world project I am studing the animals and endangered species of the country. This can also show how you can help save them from going extinct. I will also include the animals that went extinct in that country, and how they came to be extinct.

Come back to our blog to find out more information on our ATW (Around the World) project and read all our ideas!
